Accompanied PostDoc application writing group for 1st FWF proposal

The DLE Research Services and Career Development will offer accompanied postdoc application writings groups for people who are writing their first FWF application under the new FWF ESPRIT program. The writing groups are for both, people with no experience of applying for third party funding and people who already have application writing experience.

The goal of the writing groups is to bring the application forward by giving/receiving peer-feedback accompanied by information from the research services. We will offer support for up to 4 groups with 3 people in each group.

To take part

  • You already have a draft of your project
  • You already have a mentor
  • You have to be willing to partake in the group meetings, read parts of applications from other people in the group and give feedback, work on your own application and send it to the other members of the group so they can give you feedback

    To apply

    To apply for the writing groups, send us following information until 26th April 2021 to

    • A draft of your project idea (min. 5 pages) containing:
      • Wider research context / theoretical framework
      • Hypotheses / research questions / objectives
      • Approach / methods
      • Level of originality / innovation
    • Short E-Mail from your mentor supporting the project idea
    • Research Area (for assigning groups)
    • Faculty/Department/Institute at which the project should be situated
    • Experience in applying for third party funding (Fellowship, PI, Co-Author, etc.)
    • (planned) completion Date of PhD


    • Apply until 26th April 2021
    • First Meeting 4 May, 15:00-16:30 (online via MS-Teams)
      • Information overview from the research service Team
      • Get to know your group members in break-out rooms
    • Followed by 2-3 meetings in the small groups, approximately every 6 weeks – which will be about 1 h 30 min. (20 min. Feedback for each person, and approx. 30 min. for questions or information from the research service team)

    We will form the groups by general research area and experience in third party funding application.
