Software and Other IP

The University of Vienna actively encourages its scientific researchers to consider opportunities for commercialising technologies developed at the University.

Example include:

  • biological materials, such as cell lines, animal models etc.
  • software

Since, in most cases, the University is the owner of intellectual property subsisting in these technologies and must grant permission for their commercialisation, the University consults with the originators of the technology to determine the best available options. External advice is often sought to evaluate the prospects for commercialisation.
